| Description | TrumpetBoredom began in the summer of 2002. And as all good stories do, the story of the first TB session revolves around a girl... Byro was a little upset over a girl, so I told him that we were going to hang out with Joe and just chill. On a whim, we brought our horns... and started to play some songs up an octave. We busted out Joe′s 4-track player and a blank tape, and began recording. Yes, that is how TB started. Over a broken heart, with 3 guys playing high notes until we couldn′t see straight.
The next week, we met again. Joe brought in a friend from his dad′s school, and he had written out some basic songs for us to play. We set up the 4-track player, and all four of us huddled around 1 stand. We had some good songs from that first session, and Joe and I got really excited about the whole idea. I decided to start up a website of the recordings. The original intent was to sell them ala the Tasteebros... but we decided no one would buy them, and we didn′t want to just record stuff up an octave, for fear of being called "copy-cats." So we kept to our original idea: take popular songs and arrange them for 4 trumpets.
On our third recording session, the 4th guy couldn′t show... so I called up this awesome friend of mine to play the basslines: Collin Watson! Well, turns out he filled out our sound REALLY well, and made us sound like more of a band. We decided to keep him as our bass voice, and I think it was the smartest thing we ever did.
From then on, the rest is pretty much history. We′ve recorded every summer and winter since, and have gone from transferring 1 gig a month in September 2002, to transferring upwards of 30 gigs a month as of January 2006. In 2005, we transferred over 270 gigs of our music, which is roughly 425 mp3 CDs worth of our music being played around the world. |
